Bus driver assaulted

On March 13th, 2020, at 2:10pm, a passenger on a bus travelling to the University of Guelph became irritated that the bus was behind schedule. The passenger confronted the adult male bus driver and began filming him.

The driver raised his hand in an attempt to block the filming, at which point the passenger pulled the driver's hand away and slapped him in the face. The passenger then got off the bus and left the area.

Police attended the scene but were unable to locate the passenger.

The Guelph Police Service is looking to speak with the female regarding the assault.

Traffic stop, multiple arrests

On March 24th, 2020, at 11:31pm, a member of the Guelph Police Service observed a vehicle driving near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Silvercreek Parkway North in the City of Guelph. The vehicle was known to police as being operated by an adult male suspended driver. A traffic stop was then initiated.

At 11:39pm, the driver was arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed a black metal container holding 0.83 grams of Cocaine.

A 55 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Driving While Under Suspension

         Possession Of A Controlled Substance

         Breach Probation

He will appear in court on July 7th.

During the traffic stop, police located another adult male in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed that he was currently wanted on a January 2nd warrant for three counts of Failure To Comply With Judicial Release Order. He was subsequently arrested.

A 31 year old Stayner male was also additionally charged with a fourth count of Failure To Comply With Judicial Release Order as he was not to be within the City of Guelph.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 25th.

Superintendent assaulted by intruders

On March 23rd, 2020, at 6:54am, an adult male superintendent of a residential complex located near the intersection of Waterloo Avenue and Edinburgh Road South in the City of Guelph observed an adult male and an adult female enter the complex's parking garage and attempt to open vehicle doors. The superintendent confronted them and requested them to leave. The male immediately left, however before leaving the female spit in the superintendent's face.

Police were able to identify the involved parties through further investigation.

On March 24th, at 9:09am, police located the male and female at an apartment building in the downtown core and they were subsequently arrested.

A 28 year old Guelph female has been charged with:

         Break And Enter With Intent

         Assault

A 42 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Break And Enter With Intent

         Breach Probation

They will both appear in court on June 5th.

Shoplifter steals $429 in gaming

On January 31st, 2020, at 8:50pm, an adult male entered a store located near the intersection of Woodlawn Road West and Woolwich Street in the City of Guelph. He selected two gaming consoles (valued at $429.96), ran out of the store through a fire exit, got in to a waiting vehicle and fled the scene.

Police were able to identify the male through further investigation.

On March 24th, at 1:30pm, police located the male and he was subsequently arrested.

A 30 year old Guelph male has been charged with Theft Under $5,000.

He will appear in court on June 2nd.

Downtown break-in

Some time over the weekend of March 21st and 22nd, 2020, a residential building under construction located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph was entered. Numerous items were taken including various tools and a space heater.

Woman interrupts pair of thieves

On March 23rd, 2020, just prior to 5:23am, an adult female heard someone in her residence located near the intersection of Woolwich Street and Division Street in the City of Guelph. She called out to them and they fled through the basement. A MacBook Air was taken.

Police attended the scene but were unable to locate the suspect.

Attempted theft

On March 23rd, 2020, just before 11:49am, an adult male attempted to take tools from a vehicle parked out front of a construction zone located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph. The male was confronted by a worker and local business owner, and the Guelph Police Service was notified.

Police attended the scene and when the male was asked to identify himself, he provided police with his wallet. An Ontario Driver's License was located inside the wallet that did not belong to male. Further investigation revealed that the license was reported as stolen to the Waterloo Regional Police Service.

The male was subsequently arrested. A search incident to arrest revealed two additional pieces of identification that did belong to the male:

         New Brunswick Driver's License

         Ontario Driver's License

A 33 year old Guelph male has been charged with:

         Possession Of Stolen Property Under $5,000

         Possession Of Identity Documents

         Breach Of Probation

He will appear in court on July 21st.

Trailer entered

On March 24th, 2020, at 12:16am, an adult male and an adult female entered a trailer parked at a residential construction site located near the intersection of Watson Road North and Watson Parkway North in the City of Guelph. Entry was gained through the lock being cut off with bolt cutters.

At 1:06am, police located the male and female a short distance away, and they were subsequently arrested.

A 37 year old Guelph male and 34 year old Rockwood female have been charged with:

         Break And Enter With Intent

         Mischief Under $5,000

         Breach Probation

         Breach Recognizance Of Bail x2

The male has been additionally charged with Possession Of Break In Instrument.

They were held in custody pending a bail hearing on March 24th.

Multiple Car thefts

ome time between 4pm on March 22nd and 10:30am on March 23rd, 2020, a silver 2012 Toyota Corolla parked across from a residence located near the intersection of Starwood Drive and Watson Parkway North in the City of Guelph was taken. A spare set of keys were left in the vehicle.

Some time between 4pm on March 22nd and noon on March 23rd, 2020, a vehicle parked on a residential street located near the intersection of Janefield Avenue and College Avenue West in the City of Guelph was entered. A spare key to a black 4 door 2012 Honda Civic, which was parked nearby, was taken. The Honda Civic was then taken.
