Police caution about online,phone scams

The Guelph Police Service would like to make everyone aware that unfortunately scams in relation to COVID-19 are circulating both online and over the phone. Please be very cautious and extra diligent whenever you are contacted by a stranger, and remember to:



  • Never provide credit card information over the phone, text, email or in person for prescriptions or remedies that claim to treat or prevent COVID-19.
  • Never purchase products from private companies or individuals pretending to be from the government or your local Public Health Agency, claiming to provide faster testing for COVID-19.
  • Never purchase a list claiming to provide information on who has COVID-19 in your area. They don't exist.



The Guelph Police Service would like to take this time to urge the community to please reach out to any friends and family members who may fall victim to scams that will try to exploit Canadians during this challenging time.  As always, please rely on credible information provided by:
