Health Minister Clement in Guelph

Web posted on June 02, 2008

Federal Health Minister Tony Clement was in Guelph on Friday night to support to local Conservative candidate Gloria Kovach's campaign. The two were attending a fundraiser for Kovach, held at Norfolk Manor and hosted by owner David Ing.

Speaking at the event, Kovach said what is of most concern to the citizens of Guelph right now is the proposed 2009 municipal tax hike of 6.5%, which she believes is simply "unacceptable." "This is going to impact whether families can feed their children, or if they will be able to keep their homes," said Kovach. "We're going to lose business in Guelph, and possibly jobs."

Clement stressed the importance of ensuring that health care continues to remain accessible to all Canadians.
