DENSO announces major expansion

Web posted on June 21, 2007

DENSO Manufacturing Canada, Inc., a subsidiary of global automotive supplier DENSO Corporation recently announced that it plans to expand its 10,450 square-meter facility on Southgate Drive by about 20,000 square metres, almost tripling the size of the current facility. The new investment will total approximately CAN$73.3 million, and will create approximately 300 new jobs by 2010, doubling the size of DENSO's workforce in Guelph.

"This expansion will allow our plant to expand its current capabilities and better service our Canadian automotive customers," said Joseph Stich, president of DENSO Manufacturing Canada. "It's a great opportunity for the dedicated DENSO employees, the community of Guelph, and the province of Ontario. We are looking forward to the challenges and opportunities that the expansion will bring to our facility."

Construction of the expansion is scheduled to begin in July 2007 and be completed by September 2008. Production is scheduled to start in January 2009.
